Diving Tour Exploring Alexandria's Underwater Secrets

Beneath the surface of Alexandria's Eastern Harbour lies one of the world's most astonishing underwater archaeological sites — the sunken remnants of the royal palaces, temples, and harbours of Ptolemaic Alexandria, including structures associated with Cleopatra's palace complex. This guided diving tour brings you within arm's reach of artefacts that have rested undisturbed on the seabed for over two thousand years.

Your PADI-certified dive guide briefs you on the site's history before you enter the water. At depths of 4 to 8 metres, the Mediterranean's clear water reveals granite sphinxes and colossal statues of Ptolemaic pharaohs, submerged columns and column bases from the Caesareum temple, and the broken remnants of the ancient royal quay. Shoals of fish weave between the stone giants, giving the experience an otherworldly quality that no museum can replicate.

The tour also covers a Roman-era shipwreck — its amphorae still stacked in the hold as they were when the vessel sank — and the massive granite blocks of a submerged fortress wall. Underwater photography is encouraged, and your guide provides waterproof slates for communication throughout the dive.

This tour is suitable for certified divers with open-water certification or above. All equipment is provided, and a post-dive hot beverage and light snack are served aboard the dive boat before return to the marina.
