Dahab
A Bohemian seaside paradise on the Sinai Peninsula, world-famous for the Blue Hole, Lighthouse Reef, Coloured Canyon, thrilling desert safaris, and tranquil Red Sea coral reefs.
Why visit Dahab
- The Blue Hole, a 130-metre sinkhole right off the shore
- The lighthouse reef — a shore entry dive with a marine life rich drop-off
- The three pools of the Blue Hole, a snorkel and a short swim from the beach
- The Bedouin village of Al-Motel, the camel and dune-bike tours
- The canyons of South Sinai: the Coloured Canyon and the White Canyon
Getting there
Dahab has its own airport (DBB), 15 minutes from the town, with domestic flights from Cairo and Sharm El-Sheikh. The town itself is flat and walkable, and the dive centres are along the waterfront promenade.
Best time to visit
March to May and September to November. The water in Dahab is the clearest in the Red Sea, and the wind picks up in the afternoon in summer, which is when the kayaking and the diving happen. The winter nights are cold enough to need a jacket.
