- The North Coast beaches and the turquoise water of the Mediterranean

Getting there
El Alamein is on the Mediterranean coast between Alexandria and Marsa Alam. It has no airport of its own — the nearest is Borg El Arab, about an hour away, and Alexandria is 90 minutes. Most of the tours are day trips from Alexandria or Marsa Alam.
Best time to visit
March to June and September to November for the beaches, and October to March for the war sites, where the open desert is at its best. The summer is hot and dry, and the military cemeteries have little shade.
